It's National Bike Month 🚴 Take action to save lives!

Did you know in 30 states, it's illegal for cars to pass someone riding a bike within 3 feet? May is National Bike Month, so we're working to raise awareness about safe passing laws and urging action to help everyone on our roads stay safe!

Unfortunately, that means in 20 states, it's fine to buzz vulnerable road users. In 2016, there were 840 people on bikes killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes in the United States, an increase from 2015. Nearly 60% of these fatalities occurred away from intersections, where safe passing procedures and increased awareness could have saved lives.

Riding a bike is one of the best ways to be healthy and decrease your impact on our environment. Unfortunately, between distracted drivers and poorly designed roadways, the activity isn't as safe as it should be.

As a father of two young children who rides my bike regularly, I'm aware of how vulnerable I am on the road, and I hope everyone takes action (personally and politically) to ensure everyone using our streets are as safe as possible. Please sign and share my petition today.
