Demand Justice for Woman Raped by New York City Police Detectives

Content Warning: Sexual Assault, Police Violence

No one should have to experience horrors like those allegedly perpetrated by two New York City Police detectives. No one should be pulled into a police vehicle, isolated, and forced to perform sexual acts for a sworn officer of the law.

If authority is to be respected, authorities must be held accountable when they abuse their power — especially if they have perpetrated a crime as heinous as the sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman.

The woman alleges through her attorney that on September 15 two out-of-uniform NYPD detectives detained her on a minor drug charge, isolated her in an unmarked van, and then raped her. The woman’s lawyer told the The New York Daily News that:

“The friend took the victim to her parents, who rushed her to Maimonides Hospital for an exam. Doctors there found signs of sexual assault and called police who started the investigation.”

Given New York City’s long and checkered past with respect to police violence and holding law enforcement accountable when officers abuse their power, we need to make crystal clear to city authorities that hundreds of thousands of people around the world are demanding justice.

Sign this petition now and urge Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzales to aggressively investigate these serious allegations and seek criminal prosecutions for sexual assault against the officers.
