Let Angus the dog run for Kansas Governor!

Angus is a dog with a dream. This three-year old wire-haired Vizsla's guardian entered him into the Kansas governor race saying "He is a caring, nurturing individual who cares about the best for humanity and all creatures … other than squirrels"

But the secretary of state's office has crushed those dreams saying "A dog cannot run for governor.

Kansas is one of only three states, along with Vermont and Massachusetts, that don't have age requirements to run for governor. This huge loophole has already motivated six teenagers to throw their hats into the governor's race — so why not a dog?

Sign my petition to let Angus the dog run for Governor of Kansas. Yes, he's a dog — but he can't be worse than Kansas' recent human governors.

Take former Kansas Governor Sam Brownback for instance. Brownback is widely seen as the worst Governor in Kansas' history. After six years in office, he left the state in financial shambles with a debilitating budget deficit and negative job growth.

He also used his platform to institute horrifically and hateful discriminatory policies against the LQBTQ+ community, including:
  • Stripping away state non-discrimination protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
  • Allowing student organizations to deny membership to and discriminate against LGBTQ+ members.
  • Making it nearly impossible for transgender Kansans to change their birth certificates to reflect their gender identity.

Brownback governed with hate, but dogs love everyone! At least Angus wouldn't govern the state based on hateful rhetoric like his predecessors.

Note: While I think Angus should get a place on the ballot, I do NOT support Angus' anti-squirrel agenda.
