Support Lebanese Women's Citizenship Rights

The Lebanese government recently approved a draft law that would allow emigrants of "solely male descendants" to reinstate their Lebanese nationality. Not only does this support the unjust idea that "blood lineage is exclusively male," but it also ignores the plight of Lebanese women who, by the same right, should be able to transmit citizenship rights to their spouses and children.

Sign this petition to help keep Lebanese families together by calling on the Lebanese government to grant Lebanese women and their descendants equal and inclusive citizenship rights.

While equal citizenship reforms have made headway in several other Arab countries, Lebanon remains stubborn in its insistence on keeping women from holding equal citizenship status to men in the country. Until the new draft law changes, Lebanese families will be torn apart, as the children of Lebanese women will not be granted citizenship rights.

Sign now to demand equal citizenship rights for Lebanese women and their families.
We the undersigned call on you to grant Lebanese women and their descendants equal and inclusive citizenship rights. The recently approved draft law that would allow emigrants of "solely male descendants" to reinstate their Lebanese nationality unjustly supports the idea that "blood lineage is exclusively male." The draft law ignores the plight of Lebanese women who, by the same right, should be able to transmit citizenship rights to their spouses and children. Until the draft law changes, Lebanese families will be torn apart; we urge you to grant equal citizenship rights to Lebanese women and their families immediately.
