Where is the justice?

October 16th, 2007 my son had his hands submerged into a pot of boiling water by his fathers girlfriend. Because of the choice she made my son sustained serious 2nd and 3rd degree burns. He spent a month at Sick Kids Hospital. We continue and will continue to return to Sick Kids for appointments until he is 18 years old...He is 4!!
She was charged on January 4th, 2008 with Aggravated Assault and on February 12th, 2009 plead guilty to a lesser charge of Assault Causing Bodily Harm. The courts gave her house arrest for 18 months. This girl is never going to see the inside of a jail cell because the courts say, she was young, she had a good work history, she is a mother and they don't feel it's a "deterant" to throw somebody like her in jail!! This is absurd!! She can continue to live her life like nothing happened and my son has to go through hell for the rest of his life!!
If somebody doesn't pay their taxes for a few years, or abuses an animal they go to jail. Our children are our future. If we, as parents, can't depend on the "justice system" to defend our children who's going to?
