Nine years ago a flash flood took the lives of 21 people at Camp Albert Pike. It was a tragic event and we morn the people who lost there lives. Those people loved camping at Albert Pike and I know several who died that day would not want the park closed because of a natural disaster that was the first of it's kind to happen there!! It is not a common occurrence. Yes the river floods when it rains alot, all Rivers do. Campers expext this to happen and know to watch the weather while camping. Lots of places flood when it rains alot like it did that night, but they don't get closed down forever because of it. Many people have grown up going to Albert Pike during the summer. It's a great place to enjoy nature and get away from the hetic life's they live. We want the Park opened back up for overnight camping so that our kids and grandkids can experience the beautiful place we all love and miss. There is nothing that can compare to spending time camping at Albert Pike!
