Freedom to Conduct Business

The Niles City Council is considering a vote on whether or not to allow the legal sale of marijuana within the city limits. Proposal 1, a state proposal that allows for the sale and consumption of marijuana within the state of Michigan, passed on November 6. After reviewing the voting numbers, it's clear that the residents of Niles also voted in favor of this proposal.

Communities with licensed dealers stand to receive large amounts of tax revenue, which will provide much needed funding for our schools. If the City Council does ban the sale of marijuana, that money will go to the communities around us, and we'll be left without the resources needed to provide the best for our students.

By signing this petition, you are reminding the City Council of your lawful rights, and working to end the unnecessary restriction of free commerce in our town. Let them know that you do want to see our schools benefit from this revenue, and you do not want to see your rights restricted by your local government.
