Say NO to rezoning for 39W Apartment Development Project

Our concerns are: Scale - 5 story building - 3+ stories taller than other buildings on this block Number of Units - 45 units on a piece of land that currently holds 8 car wash bays Parking - 38 parking spaces - less than one per unit and no parking for visitors. No available street parking on 39th Street. Concerns this will encourage residents to park on 39th Terrace and walk around the block. This could pose issues with available parking on our street, which is often already very crowded. Traffic - issue of cars entering and exiting onto 39th St which is already very congested between Pennsylvania and Southwest Trafficway. Location - backs up to 2 100+ year old single family homes and could create noise, lighting and sewer issues
Update #16 years ago
Today the developers go in front of the city to ask for approval of their plan. They haven't accommodated the concerns we shared with them. This is still very little parking and a high density for a 16000 square foot lot. This lot in our neighborhood would only accommodate 2 homes, but they want 45 apartments. Please email Kathryn Shields, Jolie Justus and Quintan Lucas to tell them to stop this development. Katheryn.shields@kcmo.org, Jolie.justus@kcmo.org, or Quintan.lucas@kcmo.org.
