Demanding Fair Use Of Belleview High Dress Code Policy

With the new school year coming up, I am very worried for myself and many other teen girls, who are already fearing judgement by teachers by their clothing choices. As a teen girl, it is hard to shop for items that "hide my shoulders," because they're apparently too revealing for teachers and students, yet this isn't the case outside of school? The shorts sold at stores now are called "capris" that they expect us to wear, simply wearing an eight inch long pair of shorts, I've been told my shorts weren't appropriate on many occasions. It's unfair to students, especially when teachers and administration do not dicipline everyone for the same dress code infractions. I've seen girls with much more revealing dresses than my average clothing, yet they hide from teachers and get away with it simply by blending in. If they're blending in, then how are their clothing choices distacting? Is intimidating seeing a group of eight or so deans and staff looking STRICTLY for dress code in the morning. I'm in the AICE diploma program and am a well behaved and well disciplined student, how are my shoulders and lower thighs distracting? Boys in high school will be distracted by girls no matter what, dress is all up in trash bags and they'll still win over the pretty girls they see in the halls, because they're boys. They're not saying they think our shoulders and too sexy for school, and the number of times a boy has ever said that to a girl is slim to NONE. I live in Florida, it takes me 500$ and eight hours simply to find one outfit that dress code appropriate in this hot weather yet still get an infraction. Not to mention, the way these infections are handled makes the student feel like they've committed a crime. Yes, certain things are inappropriate. Shoulders, thighs, certain upper parts of the chest... too revealing? We are here to learn, not to be scoped out by teachers every day and having to go around buildings to simply avoid them. Not once have I ever been told by a teacher to get dress code during class. Only have I been told by deans or "dress code patrols" that scan simply for infractions, they LOOK for it. Even if it's not obvious, they'll find a way to infract certain students for unfair reasons. So, I propose we change the dress code guidelines for BHS. I'm not saying to overexposed students, nor am I saying to eliminate dress code in general, what I am conveying to everyone is for our students to be there to learn. Not to have to fear their day will be ruined because their shorts show a little bit of their thighs or shirts drape over the shoulder by an inch. These dress code rules should be changed, for example strapless / shoulderlwss items should be aloud. It's Florida, at least during the earlier and later parts of the year it should be occasionally allowed. Shorts should cover your butt, if it is visible and clearly sited, then it's an infraction. If not, then why bother? People have different leg lengths in general, it's simply unfair to argue otherwise. Also, deans and administration, instead of scoping for code and making students especially girls uncomfortable, should walk around and look for ACTUAL bad students misbehaving and breaking school rules. That is all we ask, thank you for reading and considering this petition as a step forward in the right direction for BHS.
