There are over 700 residents in the Belmont Heights neighborhood, and we rely on our local mailboxes for outgoing mail as it's not always safe to leave mail in our own mailboxes because of mail theft.
The current proposal to remove both mailboxes will make it much more difficult to send outgoing mail and add extra car trips. We understand that there has been a lower number of outgoing items recently, but many people rely on the boxes to send letters, bills, return movies, etc.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
- Leave both boxes in place as is
- Remove one box (the Comstock & Hallmark one)
- Change the pickup time so it's more convenient for the mail carrier
- Make pickup every other day instead of every day
