JROTC Senior Cadets Being Able to Wear a Red, White, Blue Cord for Graduation

I am a High School student at Rockledge High School in Brevard County, Florida. I recently asked my principle if the Graduating ROTC students could wear a red, white, and blue cord due to the fact that most of us were already enlisted or had plans to serve this wonderful country. my principle told me that we were not an academic program and we were not necessarily special enough to wear a graduation cord. I've done some research and many parents aren't happy about this either. For some students ROTC is all they have and they volunteer for every school event, when the school asks us for volunteers were don't hesitate. I would just like to see our Program get a little recognition. I am not petitioning for just my school but all the schools in Florida or even the country, so please help me out!!!
