Save the Berkeley Park Chapel and Mortuary

4345 West 46th Avenue (W. 46th avenue and Tennyson Street)
Denver, Colorado

The Berkeley Park Chapel and Mortuary is a place of memories, where members of our community have gathered for almost 60 years to celebrate and remember loved ones during life's most difficult moments.

The Houston-based owner of the Berkeley Park Chapel and Mortuary filed an application to demolish this historic building to make way for a 58-unit, seven building complex of 3-story townhomes. Buildings such as this are not built today, and once it is gone, there is no getting it back.

History Berkeley Regis has reached out to both the property owner and potential developer asking them to open a discussion about solutions that would reuse this beautiful and solid piece of Northwest Denver's history and community.

By signing:

I support submission of a landmark application and urge the city council to approve landmark designation for the Berkeley Park Chapel and Mortuary.

I am asking the potential developer to withdraw the demolition permit and engage in community dialogue.

Update #14 years ago
We are pleased to announce that a new buyer has signed a purchase agreement and agreed to preserve the Chapel, with closing anticipated early 2020. This outcome would not have been possible without your support - thank you! Also instrumental were Historic Denver; Berkeley Neighborhood Association; and Councilwoman Amanda Sandoval.

We will share additional details in the coming weeks. For updates, follow facebook.com/historicberkeleyregis or email historicberkeleyregis@gmail.com.

Thank you!
