Correction Officers Need Masks & Hazard Pay in the Prisons During COVID-19

Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Department of Corrections has denied correction officers the right to wear a mask in the prisons, claiming it's not part of their uniform code. Meanwhile, prisoners are being released from jail because they're susceptible to the COVID-19 virus, however, they get perfectly good healthcare while in prison. I can't make any sense of why COs would not be able to protect themselves and their families at home since they can't be quarantined to stay at home like everyone else. There are confirmed cases in the prisons, and these workers have family members that are immunocompromise like many others that don't work in ax prison. This is a violation of a basic human right to protect one's health and safety. Since they are still mandated to work, they should be paid supplemental hazardous duty pay. They come home from work and have to decide every day whether to spend time with their families and put them at risk of contracting the virus they may not realize yet that they have. It is every person's right to wear a mask, and not only is Governor Cuomo & DOC not providing them, he's not allowing them. This is absolutely a violation of civil rights to protect one's health.
