Approve Camden County One-Stop Employees to enter PERS at no cost to the Camden County Budget

Currently Camden County One-Stop (CCOS) employees have been serving the community for more than 40 years in a temporary status. Grant funding is currently utilized and equivalent to, matching PERS contributions for retirement purposes and is not derived from the Camden County budget. Such contributions have been made for more than twenty years, as a defined benefit.
This petition requests the CCOS employees be approved for PERS as are other One-Stop employees in the State of New Jersey. The benefits of approving this measure will provide a defined contribution and allow an influx of investment moved from the current 401(A), as well as employee contributions into the County PERS system.
    • Benefits include a higher level of contribution into the County PERS System.
    • Allow employees at higher salary levels based on longevity to retire, allowing Camden County to replace such workers at lower rates of pay.
    • Provide an influx of employee contributions into the County PERS system.
    • Once approved and enrolled in PERS, as required, purchasing of eligible buy-back years will allow even more investment into the County PERS system, again at no cost to the County budget.
    • Allow equal status to CCOS employees such as those that already exist in many One-Stop local areas in New Jersey.
The current CCOS proposal and contract are under review for a two- year extension. Approving the CCOS employees to enter PERS can easily be accomplished by including such measure in the CCOS proposal update, WDB approval, Freeholder resolution and subsequent contract amendment.
