Windy City Heat is the greatest unsung comedy of our generation. WCH first made a splash when it took home the Best Film Award at the 2004 Montreal Comedy Festival, beating out Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Napoleon Dynamite and many other quality movies that went on to be successful. Unlike the great comedies WCH triumphed over, this supremely original film never made it into theatres. It did, however, air on Comedy Central. Unfortunately the network showed WCH just a handful of times before it was then pulled due to politics either within the network or between the network and the film. Either way, comedy fans were robbed of a cult classic as they were never introduced to the film or given a reasonable opportunity to view it.
Directed by Bobcat Goldthwait. Produced by Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla. Written by world class prankster Jimmy Kimmel along with two brilliant comedians who work regularly on Jimmy Kimmel Live! , Don Barris and Tony Barbieri. Windy City Heat was conceptualized and fueled by some incredible comedic minds. It's no wonder that the few folks who have had the fortune of viewing Windy City Heat hail it is a classic and a favorite.
Netflix has more than a few unfunny comedies in its library. And they undoubtedly paid a lot of money for the rights to these movies. Probably a lot more than it would cost them to offer Windy City Heat. After well over a decade of being severely unsung, WCH finally deserves a fair shot at success. Netflix would get their money's worth with this film. And us comedy fans, well, we'd get to laugh our asses off.
