Protect Anel Drive Property Values!

House located at 539 Anel Drive has been vacant since June 2016 following the owner's death. The house was in foreclosure owned by the bank that had it for sale from September 2017 through early spring 2018 without a buyer. At that point it was sold at a "fire sale" in late spring 2018. The property has been listed as "for sale" with Scheetz Century 21 since May 2018. The yard was last mowed in early May 2018 and since that time has been without maintenance of any kind (yardwork, outbuildings, etc.). Conversations with Century 21 have resulted in no action to rectify the situation. The overall condition of the property is an eyesore and in stark contrast to the homes and yards located on Anel Drive. If unaddressed, cosmetic issues such as overgrowth through concrete could result in structural damage.

Luckily, the residents of Anel Drive can make the difference! We are collecting signatures in support of this case, which we plan on bringing to the Martinsville City Council's upcoming meeting. Specifically, we are requesting that the yard be mowed (1) IMMEDIATELY and (2) REGULARLY through the end of the growing season 2018 OR until such time as the house has been sold to a qualified buyer. The cost would be passed along to the house's current legal owner. While we are collecting signatures in support through this petition, we also invite any and all residents of Anel Drive to attend the meeting in person to voice their support and experiences.
