We, the undersigned citizens of South Spencer School Corporation district, as well as employees of the South Spencer School Corporation district residing outside of the area, family members and passersby from surrounding counties and states, petition to have a traffic light installed at the intersection of SR 66 and Orchard Rd in Rockport IN. A traffic light would ensure safe access to and from the school. This intersection is extremely dangerous and numerous accidents have occurred causing grievous bodily injuries, deaths, and destruction of property. The most recent accident at this intersection was on March 12, 2013, involving the death of a high school student. The clear and present danger represented by this intersection has been noted by all in the community. To readdress this problem, we petition to have a traffic light installed at this location.
