Rent Withholding

    Tenants in every state have the right to safe and livable housing. If your landlord has not met the responsibility of keeping your unit livable, you may be able to stop paying any rent to the landlord until the repairs are made. This is called rent withholding. That said, some tenants who are unhappy with their landlord's handling of a mold problem may choose to pursue self-help strategies, such as this.
