Save Li Yan

Chinese woman Li Yan will die within days for killing her husband.
She had suffered repeated serious domestic violence from him (among other things, he cut off one of her fingers and burned her face with cigarettes).  After one such attack she required hospital treatment.  She reported the violence to the authorities, several times, but they failed to take any action - even though the police did take photos of her injuries!
While defending herself during one such attack (by hitting him with a gun) she killed him.  She has been sentenced to death and has already lost her appeal, and her execution is imminent - unless WE can stop it - so PLEASE SIGN.
If you're in the UK, and over 14, you can also text "SAVE LI" and your full name to 70505 - the Amnesty International (UK) petition.  I can't find an AI petition for those outside the UK though, which is why I've started this one.

Dear Mr WU Bangguo Weiyuanzhang

We the undersigned respectfully ask you to do all within your power to ensure clemency and understanding for Ms Li Yan, sentenced to death for killing her husband Tan Yong when defending herself, after he had repeatedly violently attacked and injured her, during a further such attack.

Tan Yong had subjected Li Yan to months of violent abuse resulting in multiple injuries, including cutting off a finger and burning her face with cigarettes.  She had repeatedly reported this violence to the authorities, and the police had photographed her injuries, but no action was taken to prevent further attacks.

Li Yan is now twice a victim - once of her husband's violence and now under threat of death.  Please do all you can to ensure she is kept alive so that her case can be reconsidered.

With all our thanks
