Harsher Penalties for Animal Abusers in Nova Scotia

We, the people of Nova Scotia, call on the government of Nova Scotia to consider harsher penalties for animal abusers. We propose the following.

  • 1st offence : one year in jail, $25,000 fine, lifetime ban on owning animals
  • 2nd offence: two years in jail, $50,000 fine, lifetime ban of owning animals
  • 3rd offence: 5 years in jail, $75,000 fine, lifetime ban of owning animals
  • Probation after the 1st, 2nd and 3rd offence of no less than two years.

We also propose the offender to be placed on the animal abuse registry and to be listed with the SPCA, Half Regional Police Department, RCMP, and animal groups across the province.
