Tell the Republican Party You Don’t Want A Thug in Washington

Greg Gianforte just body slammed me and broke my glasses! That’s what Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs tweeted after Montana Republican candidate for Congress attacked him for no reason.

Jacobs had attempted to ask the candidate about the Congressional Budget Office's analysis of the Republican-backed American Health Care Act. When, apparently frustrated that he was being asked to answer for his party's dangerous destruction of the US healthcare system, he lunged at the reporter and began punching him. Even Fox News correspondents, who witnessed the attack, were appalled by Gianforte’s actions and said they were completely unprovoked.

Gianforte has seemingly followed in President Trump’s footsteps by promoting violence against the media and even fraternizing with alt-right organizations. Is this what American politics have become?

If we don’t act fast Gianforte could be Montana’s next congressman. We do not need another politician in Washington DC who prefers to use name calling and fisticufs rather than debate to solve America’s problems.

Let’s ask the Republican party to demand civility in Washington and take a stand against violence. Tell them that you don’t want a thug in the Capital and they shouldn’t either. Tell the Republican party to demand Gianforte drop out of the race now.

Dear Republican Leadership,
Republican Greg Gianforte behavior is reprehensible and has no place in Washington. We need representatives in the Capital that will represent us and defend our interests with civility, not fists and curse words. Please demand that Gianforte drop out of the race now.
