NOBANNON! My name is Garrick Rumley and I am a lifelong conservative. In this past election, I voted for Donald Trump because I believed he could bring a much needed change to the White House. I have disagreed with Trump on certain issues but this petition is specifically concerning Trump's selection of Stephen Bannon to a senior White House post, Chief Strategist.
Bannon is the executive chairman of Breitbart News, a far right wing news source that is insulting and disgusting.
Some of the most controversial Breitbart news article headlines include, "There's no hiring bias against women in tech, they just suck at interviews," "Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Crazy," "Huma Abedin Most Likely A Saudi Spy with Deep, Inarguable Connections to Global Terrorist Entity," and "The Solution to Online Harassment is Simple: Women Should Log Off," among many others.
As a Trump supporter, this is not what I voted for. Trump has a whole country to choose from. This is one of the most controversial people Trump could appoint to his staff.
I have seen many of my most conservative Facebook friends post a meme about (and I'm paraphrasing here), " if anything happens that is blatantly racist or hurts people's rights" that you would stand up. I believe this is that time. I told myself that I would stand up against bigotry if ever it occurred because I voted for this man.
