Voter's Choice Act in Stanislaus County

The November 6, 2018 election in Stanislaus County was fraught with problems, including overuse of provisional ballots, that undermined public confidence in our voting system. For future elections beginning in 2020, our County may opt in to an updated system under the California Voter's Choice Act, which would offer voters three ways to cast a ballot, would virtually eliminate the provisional ballot problem, and would almost certainly lead to significant cost-savings for the County because it would reduce the amount of voting equipment the County needs to buy and maintain. We urge the Board of Supervisors to immediately begin the process of soliciting public comment and studying the fiscal impact of opting into the Voter's Choice Act (VCA) system, with an eye toward implementing the VCA system in time for the March 2020 primary election.
