Hello Walnut Creek community. I live at 2230 Maclean Court and I own two pit bulls and have lived in this community for 4 years. Someone in the community has filed a complaint with the HOA which appears to be resulting in Hawthorne requesting the immediate removal of my dogs. For some of you this may not seem like a big deal. For others they know this represents the removal of a family member. My dogs have done nothing wrong other then be the wrong breed. Do they bark at the fence when dogs and people walk past yes. But so do dozens of other dogs. I am asking that my neighbors sign the petition in order to have this rule amended so I do not need to remove my dogs from my home!
I have been asked to have a petition signed by as many home owners as possible in order to have a chance of getting the board to change their breed specific ruling. I will have the petition at the sip and shop Saturday and will go door to door if necessary after that.
For anyone that may be on the fence about the rule to allow pit bulls I would like to inform you that Lancaster county law states "an animal is not a dangerous animal solely by virtue of its breed or species"
I say that to illustrate pit bulls are allowed anywhere in Lancaster county by law.
