Save the Monkey Mia Dolphins Aboriginal Ranger Centre

Three decades ago Australian history was made creating the FIRST Australian Dolphin Rangers Research centre on Monkey Mia Dolphin Beach in the Shark Bay World Heritage Marine Park. Our FIRST ranger was a local Aboriginal, the first Aboriginal Sea Ranger employed in Western Australia and the first dolphin ranger in Australia. It is a PROUD part of our Aussie conservation cultural history and helped create generations of ocean lovers.

IT IS ABOUT TO BE BULLDOZED BY THE GOVERNMENT!! ACT FAST. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

The government has just completed a brand new DBCA Rangers centre and despite requests from the local Malgana Sea Rangers to use the old building to HELP the Government Rangers look after our precious dolphins, the government plans to bulldoze it for no other reason than to create a nice view from the carpark.

The government after building the new Rangers centre for DBCA now has no money in their budget to fund the demolition (which means tax payers in the middle of a finacially stressful global pandemic will now be asked to fund the demolition of a structurally sound, beautiful and purpose built building).

The government has also slashed the funding of the DBCA Rangers program and the number of government rangers able to actively patrol the dolphin beach is lower than ever despite the Monkey Mia resort doubling in size in recent years.

Our dolphins are under threat from increased unsupervised interactions with tourists. The DBCA rangers centre would be helped immensely by having an Aboriginal Sea Rangers centre next door that could double their number on the beach with local Malgana rangers with sixty thousand years of looking after their saltwater country alongside them.

The Malgana Sea Rangers have asked to be able to teach their culture, their songs, their art and their love of "Irubuga" (dolphins) with the many visitors who come to visit their country..

We ask that you help them achieve their dream and create the very first "Malgana Sea Ranger Centre" in the building instead of demolishing it.

If YOU love dolphins, if you love Shark Bay, if you think keeping Aboriginal culture alive is important, if you think its a waste of your tax dollars to destroy such an important building then help us create history today by creating the Monkey Mia Malgana Sea Rangers Centre by signing below.
