Deny the huge industrial style 3-story condo duplex at 4101 Arkansas Ave NW

We, the residents of the area surrounding Rock Creek Park at Piney Branch Parkway, oppose the construction of a huge three-story, industrial-style condo duplex at 4101 Arkansas Ave NW and urge the Commission of Fine Arts to deny this project.

We strongly believe its enormous size, industrial style and bold colors place it squarely at odds with the serene aesthetic now enjoyed along Arkansas Avenue and the perimeter of Rock Creek Park.

The current house is a modest 1950's-era single story ranch home. The proposed construction would expand the footprint by close to 30 percent and more than TRIPLE the height.

We appeal to the Commission of Fine Arts, which oversees this property due to its close proximity to Rock Creek Park, to reject the proposed design. The CFA is charged with overseeing "matters of design and aesthetics, as they affect the federal interest and preserve the dignity of the nation's capital."

In our view, the radical enlargement of the existing home to more than three times its current height, its industrial design and its bold colors do not preserve the quiet dignity of the entrance to Rock Creek Park.
