As Trump's former personal attorney, Giuliani played a huge role in the attempt to overthrow the 2020 election. He led a scheme to direct illegitimate Republican electors to submit false documents certifying the election for Trump in seven states that Trump lost. And he spread baseless conspiracy theories about nonexistent election fraud for months on end.
He should be prohibited from ever practicing law again.
So it's welcome news that an attorney disciplinary committee decided that Giuliani's false election fraud claims should make him liable for professional sanctions. But this decision is preliminary and non-binding – and Giuliani will have to face additional rounds of hearings. And those running those hearings need to know that Rudy needs to face harsh penalties, not just a slap on the wrist.
We've had enough of Rudy Giuliani and his antics – he can't be let off the hook. He must be held accountable for his lies about the 2020 election!
