Upcoming Williamson County Land Use Plan Vote

Williamson County's population is up over 26% in the last 10 years and our growth is still accelerating.  The Greater Nashville Regional Council has projected that Williamson County's will grow at 5.5% annually through 2045.  Williamson County's Planning Commission has been working on revisions to our land use plans and zoning ordiance over the last year, and County Commissioners will be voting soon on their recommendations during their March 2020 meetings.  Their recommended option would change future development in the unincorporated areas which are outside of the UGBs (urban growth boundaries), villages, and hamlets from 1 housing unit per 1 acre to 1 housing units per 5 acres (known as the "Town and Country Option")  The higher density should be within the UGB or where adequate infrastructure exists.   Doing so will go a long way to help control Williamson County's growth and protect our landscape, quality of life, and economic integrity.
"We the residents of Williamson County, urge the Planning and County Commissioners to select the Town and Country option of the pending Comprehensive Land Use Plan.  This option calls for 1 housing unit per 5 acres in Williamson County outside of municipal boundaries in order to preserve our rural landscape, cost of living, and quality of life in our county."
