It's Time To Ban Cruel Rodeos in New Zealand

It's time to end the sport of bull riding in New Zealand. That's what many are saying after a rodeo bull had to be put down after breaking its leg at the Pukemanu Bullride in Martinborough this month.

Those who were on the scene say they witnessed the bull drag himself out of the ring distressed "salivating and bellowing."

The bull was sadly euthanized, but his death adds just one more name to the list of animals who have died for the sake of our entertainment.

Similar calls were raised in Southern Australia last year when a rodeo bull, named "Crime Scene", was put down after he snapped its leg after it came down from a buck and vets determined that euthanasia was their the only option.

Rodeos are inherently barbaric and a practice that should no longer be tolerated in modern societies where animal rights are valued. Bulls aren't meant to be ridden and doing so exposes them to serious injuries, that can sometimes result in death.

Is the death of any innocent animal really worth a few seconds of "entertainment?"

Join the call to ask New Zealand to put an end to this cruel "sport."
