Subject: Please release the Crows Nest Bears!

Dear Alberta Environment and Parks,

Please allow the three orphaned Crows Nest Pass Grizzly bear Cubs to a wildlife rehabilitation centre, rather than life in a zoo. Currently they are housed at Calgary Zoo, but Calgary Zoo wants to transfer them to another zoo.

Zoo accreditation does not ensure a good life, as it is not well regulated. If they can survive in the wild, allow them to live out their life in the wild. Grizzly bears are successfully rehabilitated by Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter www.wildlifeshelter.com in British Columbia. Please send them to Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter.

If they are not release able, send them to a huge sanctuary for rescued captive wildlife that is off limits to the public. Please keep these bears out of the zoo animal and entertainment trade.

The Bears were orphaned by a spring bear hunter who, according to the Hunter, allegedly felt frightened by the bear. The bears were allegedly ignoring the Hunter until the Hunter started allegedly invading the bear family's space.

Please stop the spring bear hunt immediately and permanently. The bear hunt is not an essential service.

Please add all so called "defensive shootings" into the hunting quota. Please also insist that hunters carry bear spray and cameras to prove what really happened.

Please educate the public, and anyone who carries firearms, the humane and far more effective alternative of bear spray. Please educate everyone about bear behaviour. Most "charging bear" claims are cases of bears who wish to scare, not harm, humans. We can live around, and encounter bears, without killing them.

Please also allow the rescue and rehabilitation of other prohibited species; elk, Lynx, bobcat, pronghorn, fox, cougar, wolf, grizzly bear, coyote, and skunk.

Please also consider ending the spring bear hunt.

Thank you for allowing the rescue and rehabilitation of black bears. Not allowing rehab forces rehab underground, involves animals being sent out of province, or worse, involves the destruction of the animal.

Sincerely,

Nicole Corrado
