A prominent Ugandan Feminist is behind bars because of a Facebook post.
After Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni did not follow through with a campaign promise to provide school girls with sanitary pads, Dr. Stella Nyanz created her own campaign to do so. After referring to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni as a "pair of buttocks" on Facebook after the campaign, Dr. Stella Nyanz was arrested and denied bail under Uganda's Computer Misuse Act.
Please sign to tell Ugandan prosecutors to release and drop charges against Dr. Stella Nyanzi.
I strongly urge you to release Dr. Stella Nyanz. Dr. Stella Nyanz should not have been arrested due to expressing critism over Facebook. As Human Rights Watch expains, "All officials should expect criticism, even if it’s rudely worded."
