Please allow dogs on the grass in Julian Abel Park

We, the citizens of South West Center City, are petitioning the city of Philadelphia to make Juilian Abel Park Dog Friendly.

We believe that Julian Abel Park provides much-needed green space for ALL community members including the furry ones that bark. In South West Center City, green space welcoming to dogs is sorely lacking – there are no parks left within a reasonable distance that dog owners can enjoy green space with their dogs.

In addition, we the undersigned pledge that while in any City park, as responsible dog-owners, we will always make sure our dogs are well-behaved, that they are friendly with both people and other dogs, that they do not interfere with others enjoying the park space, and that their waste will be cleaned up in a prompt and appropriate manner.

We ask we be allowed to raise money to purchase big belly cans and doggie bags to put on the sidewalk adjacent to the park.  The way it is now irresponsible owners use the park and it is only the owners who folow the rules who are being left out.  Let us help make the park all it can be by keeping an eye on owners who are not good citizens.
