Trump Wants to Jail Children Indefinitely

If President Trump gets his way, there could soon be no limits on how long immigrant children can be jailed in detention centers. This move could lead to a rapid expansion of detention facilities, with families being detained indefinitely.

Please sign this petition to put an immediate end to this egregious human rights violation now.

Since 1997, certain standards have existed to protect immigrant children in government custody, thanks to the Flores Settlement Agreement. Unfortunately, the Trump administration has started efforts to terminate the agreement. If the administration is successful, the government will be able to detain minors beyond the existing limit of 20 days. Families will be detained until their cases have been resolved, a process that could take months.

Trump's new proposal would also loosen licensing requirements for detention facilities and leave major loopholes for not meeting standards of care. Essentially, Trump wants to get rid of any protections that stand in the way of his cruel plan to quickly jail as many immigrants as possible even if it means detaining them in unsafe and unhealthy conditions.

We cannot let Trump continue his racist crusade against families seeking refuge and safety . Sign now to demand Trump stop this proposal now.
