Wake up Mahopac! Your Tax Assessor, who has been in his position for over 20 years, is being pushed out of his job because he is fair and honest and he won't play ball with people on the town board who own lakefront property. Shame on the Town Board for pushing him out while having an obvious conflict of interest. The Board is considering "other applicants" while the present assessor is more then well qualified and won't "bend" the rules on assessments. Don't let this happen! Don't let your Town Board dismiss an honest hardworking man out of his job because the Board wants him to change tax burdens at the expense of his integrity. Talk to your Town Supervisor and Councilmen and ask them "why exactly are you firing the present tax assessor?" then ask them "do you or your family own property on the lake?" and then ask "how many lakefront properties do you/they own?" This outing of an outstanding citizen from his gainful employment is about politics and money, pure and simple. Shame on the Town Board if the push this man out of his job. Stay classy Mahopac!
