End experiments on Ontario’s wild fish!

Recently there was a program on CBC Radio called Hidden Frequencies, that describes research into setting off explosions in lakes with fish to see what injuries it caused. While these particular experiments were done 33 years ago, the Experimental Lakes Area still conducts experiments (including the deliberate pollution of natural lakes) in order to see what it does to the fish. These animals in the experiments can not really be monitored for welfare, as they are wild. Many other non target wildlife is affected too. The Experimental Lakes Area Project was started in the 1960s. We can not see a project like the Experimental Lakes Area passing an ethics board, nor the Ontario Animals in Research Act, or the Canadian Council on Animal Care board today. Please end this outdated form of research, and move toward animal free studies.
