Capital Regional District (CRD) and the City of Langford have proposed a vehicle road at 719 and 721 Treanor Avenue that will provide alternate vehicle access to a new secondary school to be created on Mccallum Road as announced by B.C. Minister of Education Rob Fleming and Premier John Horgan Jun. 17, 2019. This green space currently holds hiking trails into a glen where numerous bird species, rabbit, deer and others find haven from traffic before Lake Ida Ann and into the remaining green spaces of Bear Mountain. Building sites for the Millstream Ridge project for 713 and 715 Treanor Avenue were approved on the basis that green space would be preserved in behind the development and now plans are underway to tear down these trees and pave over these trails. Alternative access points for this vehicle road that would utilize less green space destroying less of the natural ecosystem while upholding prior building commitments would include but certainly is not limited to Egret Cl, Fleetwood Ct, Millstone Dr, Bamboo Pl, Viola Pl, Progress Pl, Affirmed Pl or Prospector Way. Sign today to have a say in the site development and save some trees & trails that could otherwise be bolstered for pedestrian traffic with trail builders and thereafter utilized with eco studies as part of school operations for the abundance of local flora and fauna. Let the government officials responsible and CRD Board know this green space on Treanor Avenue is important and deserving our protection in consideration of developing land in this area. Please help by sending an e-mail, sharing on Facebook and Twitter to reach a wider audience.
