Stop Senior Exploitation Now

Across the country, senior citizens are being asked to pay $5000-$12,000 a month to live comfortably in a community. There are senior living facilities, opening every day in order to exploit our elders. The owners of these facilities, take advantage of the minimal requirements as regulated by the health departments. We need to hold all of these people accountable because it isn’t just a senior living facilities. It is the people that are allowing these laws and regulations to be put in place staffing ratios in New Mexico in an assisted living facility are one staff per 15 senior citizens. The senior citizens are being abandoned and neglected, and these companies are taking advantage of their funds while the seniors are not receiving the care that they need demand that the staffing ratios are higher. I would suggest one Caregiver per 3 residents. Demand that caregivers are paid appropriate wages, livable wages, so that they can enjoy their job and take care of their own families at home. Give the Caregiver’s health benefits and most importantly, allowing these companies to price gouge on senior living when the seniors are not receiving the care that they deserve. Our elders pave the way for us to be where we are now and it is doing them a true service to allow them to be taken advantage of. Ask your governors to visit these homes and senior living facilities. Ask your governors to meet with family members who have their elder in one of these facilities get real information. Thank you so much for your support and consideration.
