Satellite Beach wants to CHARGE you $$$ park on former County Hightower and Pelican Beach Parks - while it's resident pay nothing. Satellite Beach also wants to reserve spaces for its residents thereby limiting County and Visitor parking.
It was Brevard who PAID for these parks' lands. When Brevard County GAVE Hightower and Pelican Parks to Satellite Beach in 2012, it was with legal agreement and restrictive covenants on sale protecting equal access for Brevard and State residents to parking at Hightower and Pelican parks.
Satellite Beach and their lobbiest have met with all Brevard Commissioners. At the 5/19/21 City Council meeting, City says that these are their parks and they want the Covenants released. Council member Mindy Gibson, indicated they had 3 Brevard County Commissioners willing to support releasing the covenants. If true, with one more this will pass with a super majority vote - thus restricting Brevard residents from equal access and having to pay for parking while city residents do not.
Never mind that the County paid for these parks. These parks are for ALL Brevard County and visitors.
