Demand an End to the Purse Seine/Gill Nets in Mississippi

Mississipi currently allows Purse Seine/Gill nets in a commercial fishery that indiscriminately kills all marine life. They claim this is sustainable fishery but it has been proven over the last 25 years that it isn't. The fishery is destroying the spotted sea trout population as well as habitat and forage fish that supports the ecological structure of Mississippi coastal waters. The boats also are avoiding trip limits by selling out of state.

The state has provided them with a monopoly with no checks and balances on a fishery that is considered overfish already. Why are there numerous restrictions on recreational fishery while the state blatantly allows the harvest and destruction of these trout in prime spawning grounds and season by the nets?? We have no issue with the hook and line commercial fishery but an issue with the nets killing everything within their grasp.
