Recently, we have been in contact with Boston hip-hop artist, Sammy Adams, as well as his booking agents in regards to bringing Sammy here for a performance. We were able to agree upon a $10,000 performance cost. While this may sound extreme for a performance, we have come up with several possibilities to fund this event. We intend to charge people roughly $15 to attend this concert/pay for the performance. Upon presenting this idea to Campus Activities Board (CAB), we were told that this idea is unrealistic given the lack of interest in other CAB events that are free. However, we have discussed this idea with numerous students from Colby-Sawyer, as well as neighboring colleges that would be extremely interested in this event, and willing to pay for a ticket. Our intention with this petition is to show our Campus Activities Board that there is enough interest in the event so that the financial debate could be settled.
