Stop our government from forcing poor healthcare on our Veterans!

Many of our friends and family are either veterans themselves or know someone who has served our country with honor and courage. In return our government through the Veterans Administration has been increasingly strict and unreasonable in providing proper treatment and it's creating hardship and substandard service.

One of the most recent changes has been the qualification for a vet receive paid care outside of the VA. Prior to July 2020 if any veteran wanted non-emergency medical treatment outside of the VA they had to live a minimum of 50 miles from the nearest VV treatment center.

Since July of last year the VA changed the qualification to more than 60 minutes. Because they use an app of their own that determines the "average" drive time there's no factoring in weather conditions, volume of traffic or road construction. Prior to July 2020 my drive time to Detroit VAMC varied from 55 minutes to as much as 90 minutes. Sometimes I was unable to get there in less than TWO HOURS! Regardless of any of that I have always allowed 90 minutes.

The drive to Detroit from my home is a three lane major highway with a posted speed limit of 70 most of the way. If you can maintain 70 mph you can get there in about 56 minutes but mostly you will be risking your life!
