Support Stanford Road Safety Improvements with Stop Signs & Sidewalks

Upper Arlington's Stanford Road is the main thoroughfare for nearly 200 children who walk to Barrington, Jones, and Miller Library.

  • An average of 2,717 cars/cyclists travel on Stanford Road each day (UA City stats, 2019).
  • Cars have been recorded at 40-52 MPH (UA City stats, 2016).
  • UA's Kingswood is a growing area with young families, and Stanford Road has become a busy cut-thru to OSU, Grandview and Columbus.
  • More traffic is coming. OSU is planning to develop West Campus with buildings and apartments to eventually accommodate up to 4,000 residents (Columbus Underground 2/22/19).
  • On a local, state and national level, pedestrian injuries and deaths are at an all-time high. 21 pedestrians were killed by vehicles in Columbus during 2016—an 81% increase in 2 years (Dispatch, 1/8/17).
  • Although several homeowners are willing to pay for sidewalks, several seniors cannot afford the added costs. Sidewalks benefit the entire community. These sidewalks would be used by the hundreds of people who walk down Stanford Road, which is becoming too dangerous.

To make Stanford Road safer, it needs 4-way Stop signs and a community sidewalk between Andover and NW Boulevard. Please help us show the City of UA that this is an important safety issue.
