Tell NY to Stop Plans Mass Slaughter Canadian Geese

  • by: Animal Advocates

The town of North Hempstead, on Long Island New York, has announced plans to kill hundreds of Canada geese and newly born goslings by shooting or gassing them to death and process the poisoned birds to a food bank. The town intends to spend $8,602.71 in tax dollars and hire USDA “Wildlife Services” agents for the kill plan.

This is unnecessary cruelty, wastful spending and poses a heath risk. If the birds are shot and given to food banks, the risks of ingesting lead are great- as well as littering the environment with lead ammunition. If they are gassed, it means they have been poisoned, and poison will be ingested.

Tell North Hempstead that goose roundups are barbarically cruel. Agents sneak into parks and roughly separate panicked babies from their parents and stuff them bound into a crates and then shoot them or gas them to death.  For the $8,602.71 they are willing to spend for this monsterous action, they could clean the grass and modifying some habitat and landscapes for far less taxpayer money.
