Trump Blamed the Reiners for Their Own Deaths, Pushing Violent Political Rhetoric. This Must Stop!

Director Rob Reiner made some of the most beloved movies in Hollywood, including classics like When Harry Met Sally, This is Spinal Tap, and The Princess Bride. People who worked with him praised him for his compassion, humanity, and curiosity.

Then, on December 14, 2025, authorities found both Rob Reiner and his wife Michele dead in their Los Angeles home, apparently stabbed to death.

And what did the U.S. President do in response? He mocked and even seemed to celebrate their deaths in a social media post, because the couple had openly criticized him in the past.

In his social media post, Trump wrote that the Reiners' deaths were essentially the result of their political opposition to him. Referring to Mr. Reiner as "tortured and struggling," he blamed the couple for their own murder. Specifically, he said their killings were "due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME".

Meanwhile, the way Trump approached Charlie Kirk's killing stands in sharp contrast. He spoke out against politically-motivated violence and condemned anyone who dared to criticize the late right-wing commentator. And we should all agree that political violence is wrong, no matter which side of the aisle we're on. What's also wrong: violent political rhetoric. And blaming people for their own murders because they oppose the ruling party is violent political rhetoric.

Just before his death, Rob Reiner had been in the process of creating a documentary about Trump and Putin. While it appeared to still be in its early development stages, it showcases his interest in shining a spotlight on truths and deceptions. His enduring legacy of commitment to kindness, creativity, and social justice will live on.

Trump must cease with his cruel and callous approach of relishing political violence against his critics. People who disagree with each other politically are not enemies - they are fellow human beings. Sign the petition to demand that Trump end his hypocritical approach, apologize, and stop spreading violent rhetoric!
