We The People Demand that NO MARIJUANA RETAIL FACILITY be approved at Hartley Lakeside 2017 Subdivision.

WHEREAS, Higher by Bad Gramm3r, LLC, a cannabis business, proposed location of 1204 N. Hyer Spur, Palmer, Alaska, has applied to open a Marijuana Retail Facility dispensary that does significantly and negatively impact the quality of life in our community. We believe that such commercialized marijuana operations seriously endanger our athlete, students, community and their future.  There is compelling evidence that allowing commercial marijuana enterprises leads to dramatic increases in youth using marijuana. Permitting marijuana businesses of any type and in any location results in an inundation of the drug into a community, increasing youth access and sending a message that marijuana is a safe drug.

WE THE UNDERSIGNED, as concerned business owners, Community participants, Subdivision residents, parents, homeowners, Athletics and organization members, hereby petition our elected officials to:

1. Reject the application to open a Marijuana Retail Facility at 1204 N. Hyer Spur, Palmer, AK;

2. Require public hearings for community input before any potential marijuana dispensary facility is approved in Palmer Town location;

3. Promptly amend the Matsu Code to set a legal distance requirement of such operation to at least one mile from any school, house of worship, or public park and at least 1,000 feet from any residential property, recreational facilities, commercial business; and

4. Promptly amend the Matsu Code to adopt specific requirements to restrict the sale of marijuana on the Current Legal Description of Lot 1 Block 4 of Lakeside Estates & Tract A Mountain Ash Subdivision; Subdivision name of: Hartley Lakeside 2017 in the event that Matsu Borough permits such sale.
