Texas Teacher Calls Police on 6-Year-Old Muslim Boy With Down Syndrome

Six-year-old Mohammed Suleiman was born with Down Syndrome chromosome 21. According to his father, Mohammad has intellectual difficulties and doesn't speak at all. But that didn't stop a substitute teacher at C. J. Harris Elementary School from calling the police alleging that Mohammed was a terrorist who was sexually harassing her.

This was a disgusting example of blatant discrimination, a complete waste of time and resources, and an unnecessary cause of humiliation for the Suleiman family.

Please join in urging Pearland Independent School District to never hire this substitute teacher again, and demanding that police investigate the substitute's actions.

According to reports, the teacher claimed that Mohammad was saying "Allah" and "boom" and called the police to report him as a terrorist. She also claimed that the 6-year-old was sexually harassing her.

However, Mohammad's father Maher Suleiman and a community activist both agree that, based on all of the evidence, this was a made up story based on nothing but discrimination. Pearland Police seem to agree -- they conducted an investigation, but found no need for police involvement.

We cannot tolerate discrimination by our teachers, substitutes or not. Please sign this Care2 petition, and let's make sure this person can no longer cause pain and humiliation to anymore children or families.
