Stop Egypt Sending Defenceless Dogs to Asia

A high-level source inside the Eygptian Ministry of Agriculture revealed that The General Organization for Veterinary Services has approved of the export of 4,100 dogs and cats to Asia.

It is unclear what exactly will happen to these poor creatures except for sure abhorrent torture and suffering. If they are to be 'officially' used for food or fur by the Chinese, then this is clear violation of all health controls and a matter that needs to be addressed by the OIE (World Organisation for Animal Health).

For years, this organisation has refused to back our Charity's concerns that dogs and cats are being brutally slaughtered for food. These animals are not livestock, and they and other organisations know full well that we oppose eating dogs and cats (and indeed any meat). Turning a blind eye condones the torture.

Even if the dogs and cats are to be used for medical testing, we have proven how much they are made to suffer. Funds that Eygpt is using to prepare the dogs to travel would be better used to run spay and neuter programmes and support local shelters that promote kindness to animals.

Our Charity formally opposes this export, and in our capacity of Consultative Status to the ECOSOC of the UN, we will circulate our concerns and objections.

Sign this petition to demand that Egypt stop sending dogs to Egypt.

Please follow our social media where we will publish actions you can take part in to oppose this madness.

We await official statements from the Ministries to confirm their position.
