Demand legalisation of cannabis in the UK for medicinal and recreational use.

Prohibition doesn't work. Cannabis is a plant which should be free for us all to grow in our gardens without a licence. It's safer and less harmful than alcohol or tobacco so keeping it banned is hypocrisy.  Cannabis has proven health benefits from treating glaucoma to preventing epilepsy or easing the symptoms of multiple sclerosis. Ideally it would be better for a consultant or GP to make a diagnoses and prescribe the correct dosage of cannabis for each patient but as we have just 'supposedly' legalised cannabis for medicinal purposes we can see that there are too many hoops to jump through to get a prescription. Pain killers in the form of opiates do not work for everyone and in some cases have caused the death of many patients. I believe we should, which is our human right, be allowed to choose cannabis to help/cure our ailments including cancer patients whereby they have exhausted hospital treatments (chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy) only to find that their immune system has been destroyed and cannabis is their only hope left. At the moment we don't have any human rights to use cannabis for medicinal or recreational purposes. The UK is lagging behind the rest of the world with the legalisation of cannabis and all we have is an outdated law. GW Pharmaceuticals based in the UK have a licence to grow and sell cannabis extracts around the globe. I feel that this legislation is very unfair and outdated.
