On November 8, 2016, Groton voters approved question #4 to legalize Marijuana and in doing so we now have the right as a town to vote on a referendum that would prohibit Marijuana stores from opening in the town of Groton. We may have agreed to legalize Marijuana in our state but we did not agree to have retail stores in our town.
I urge Groton voters to sign this petition to formally request our Board of Selectmen to place a question on the ballot to allow all taxpayers to clearly and collectively ban or allow Marijuana retail stores in our town. A ballot question is the only way to unequivocally determine if our entire town welcomes retail Marijuana shops or not.
