Keep Halloween in our School!

In order to promote the awesome idea of inclusivity, Peninsula Shores District School, in Wiarton, Ontario, has decided to ban the wearing of Halloween costumes on October 31st. The end of day dance is no longer referred to as a Halloween dance either. A PJ themed day is being planned with a PJ dance.

Costumes have been worn in previous years as well as a Halloween dance at the end of the day. Younger children also visited older children's classrooms for trick or treating.

We believe that the idea of inclusivity is an awesome idea, but the stance taken by PSDS now excludes children who WANT to celebrate Halloween in the school's traditional manner.

Please sign this petition in support of allowing children to be children on Halloween; allow them to wear their costumes and dance to the Monster Mash as in previous years!

I am only 10 so my Mom has helped me; but she writes only what I want her to; she just does it better (for now). My friends and I are only 8, 10 and 12 years of age. Please support us in allowing us to be children who celebrate Halloween on Halloween.

Happy Halloween!

When we started this petition, we hoped for 10 people to sign. We have over 10,000 now! Thank you!

We wanted Halloween brought back to our school including costumes and a Halloween dance. We didn't succeed on the dance, but we are allowed to wear our costumes!

Lily is going as a wind up clock, Emily will be an Elf on the Shelf and I'm going as a pink lady from Grease. Thank you for understanding that kids should be allowed to be kids and that some adults are just silly.
